Spaniards are optimistic about AI: 64% believe it can simplify their lives

Spaniards are more optimistic than their European neighbors about the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in their daily lives, while 64% of Spaniards believe that this technology can simplify their lives, 11 points above the average European. Only a small part of Europeans trust their ability to take advantage of artificial intelligence in their daily lives (15%). In this sense, Spain is two percentage points above the European average, with 17% of respondents who “claim to know how to use AI to benefit their daily lives.” Likewise, 67% of Spaniards want more advice and suggestions on how to improve the future, rather than warnings about what should scare them. Likewise, 63% want to know more about responsible uses of AI. These are some of the conclusions that emerge from ‘Intelligent Living: How AI is Enhancing Everyday Experiences’, a pan-European study carried out by Samsung with more than 11,000 people in ten European countries, including Spain, which was proposed with the purpose of knowing in detail how consumers across Europe are interacting with AI today and what they expect from it in the future. Overall, Spanish respondents were more enthusiastic about the role AI could play in multiple facets of their daily lives compared to other European countries (45% in Spain vs. 38% European average). And with European consumers increasingly interested in seeing how AI can be meaningfully integrated into their lives, it highlights the need for AI-powered products that are easy to use as well as intuitive. Although 90% of respondents believe they have some knowledge about AI, only 15% feel confident about its applications in personal life (17% in Spain). “As AI becomes more integrated into our devices, its true value lies in its ability to simplify tasks, improve our quality of life and make everyday interactions more fluid,” said the vice president for Consumer Electronics at Samsung Iberia, Alvaro Uriarte. AI AS AN INTEGRAL PART OF A LIFESTYLE The survey also reveals that around two thirds (66%) of Europeans are looking for more time to dedicate themselves to the activities they like, while in Spain the percentage rises to 76 %. Once again, Spanish respondents were more enthusiastic about their European neighbors: 51% of Spaniards believe that AI can help them prioritize their passions (37% European average), while 54% expect AI improves what they can create (41% of Europe). On the other hand, in all countries a crucial aspect for the adoption of AI is trust: 37% of Spanish respondents (aligned with the same percentage of the European average) value security updates, and 47% of Spaniards (34% of Europeans) appreciate active 24/7 threat monitoring to ensure that technology is reliable and secure. AI TO PERSONALIZE THE HEALTH AND WELL-BEING EXPERIENCE Personalization is also a key trend, especially when it comes to health and well-being, as 57% of Spanish respondents (50% on average in Europe) want to prevent diseases instead of waiting to treat them. More specifically, 39% of respondents (32% in Europe) indicated their desire to use AI for personalized diet plans, 22% (24% of Europeans) for exercise routines and 34% for style adjustments. of life based on individual health data. A similar proportion of Spaniards (37%) are interested in using AI to track and improve their sleep patterns (31% of Europeans). However, there remains some skepticism on the part of those who do not currently use this technology: 21% say they would use AI health monitors in their daily routines (17% of the European average). AI FOR LEISURE AND HOME The survey also reveals that the most desired AI features include real-time translation (23%) and AI modes that optimize image definition (27%), as well as detection background noise and sound quality adjustment (27%) for a more immersive viewing experience. Additionally, 28% of respondents say there are no AI features they are interested in in relation to home entertainment, possibly reflecting a lack of awareness of its potential capabilities. On the other hand, connectivity is a priority, since 52% of Spanish respondents (10 points above the European average, which stands at 42%) want AI to better connect the devices in their home. Furthermore, 55% of Spaniards (vs. 42% of Europeans) believe that AI will improve their domestic life, while 29% (24% in Europe) affirm that smart home management is the function of the AI they want most. Cleaning and vacuuming are the main tasks that Europeans want AI to help them with, with 38% of Spaniards surveyed expressing interest in AI-based solutions that can carry out these activities for them (33% in Europe) . Furthermore, 34% of Spaniards are interested in an AI that can help clean kitchen appliances (28% of Europeans), while 28% are looking for help with washing dishes (25% of Europeans), and 27% are interested in features that can help with cooking and managing shopping lists (23% European). These tasks surpass other more traditional ones, such as managing invoices and household finances, which only 26% of respondents selected (21% of Europeans).
